This diptych is a story of a lost love between two lovebirds, one belonging to the businessmen and the other to the fishermen, due to modernisation. Usually seen in pairs, the lovebirds are separated on opposite ends of the building, never able to meet. This is characterised by the yearning for each other as they look into the distance of the other's environment and holding a memento from their time together.

The murals were inspired by the history of Kampong Amber (where the mural is situated) and the community that it once was. Chinese businessmen and Malay fishermen used to live side by side in beachfront bungalows and wooden thatched houses respectively and were a tight community. With industrialisation and modernisation, the community was eventually split up and relocated, and more roads were built between the people and the sea, their livelihood.
