Series / Body Investigation: Pride Murals
Still Here is the first of my annual Pride murals in response to the regulation of public space in Singapore, where LGBTQIA+ themes are often considered “sensitive” and excluded from public visual culture. For marginalised communities, visibility is especially important, particularly for queer youth and those who may not yet feel safe to come out. The lack of representation can reinforce isolation, while public visibility can affirm presence and belonging. These murals were created as a response to that absence, offering a recurring gesture of representation and solidarity, and affirming that queer lives, relationships, and experiences are part of Singapore’s shared visual landscape.
